In this CreditRage I discuss a phone issue and rant a bit more about the NSA.
One point of this is to have collectors find your phone number without giving it to them. If you don’t give them the number and they call you, they are violating the TCPA.
To get your number to them involves my cell phone strategy. I update the online accounts that I have that are in good standing and will stay that way. In my case, I updated my mortgage information at UseLess Bank. Then I did a couple of other similar accounts. I checked my credit report in a couple of months and my number was updated.
You might ask why I don’t just send Trans Union, Equifax and Experian? I did. The three of them sent me three letters explaining that they don’t update phone numbers based on consumer’s requests.
That made me think about suing them for not keeping my file accurate, but I didn’t. Maybe next time.
