Five Robocallers Shut Down by the FTC!

It really seams the the FTC has stepped up to the plate and started doing its job. Will wonders never cease?

As you all know, I am the first one to gripe about the government and how they cater to the corporations and lobbyist. So when a government agency steps up and fights robocallers, I have to be the first to say, “Good job!” don’t I?

Consider this statement by FTC Chairman Jon Leibowitz at the announcement of five cases:

“At the FTC, Rachel from Cardholder Services is public enemy number one.”

I cant believe this guy is on the government payroll. I hope he keeps going and sees the bigger picture that includes fraud in the mortgage industry, the Federal Reserve Scam, and so forth. One person’s life is to short to fix everything that is wrong the that FTC could do something about.

Rachel is a computer generated voice that Cardmember Services had made 2.6 billion calls in a year and a half period, of which 1.6 billion were answered by consumers. Of those, 12.8 million people actually spoke with an agent, the FTC said. Yes, it took a lot of calls (generated by computers, which don’t get too tired), but nearly 13 million people bit. No more!

Robocalls are made by an auto-dialer with a recorded voice such as Rachel’s, playing when you answer. For the most part, these calls are illegal. The Politicians can still use them in most states, but they cannot be used for sales unless a consumer specifically authorizes the calling party to use the robocaller. This is important to note that robocalling is a TCPA violation if a collector calls your cell phone.

The practice of falsifying a consumers caller ID, called  spoofing, is common to these robocalling operations and is also illegal as well.

The FTC has taken action against the following 5 dirtbag companies for robocalling:

  1. Treasure Your Success,
  2. Ambrosia Web Design,
  3. A+ Financial Center, LLC,
  4. The Green Savers,
  5. Key One Solutions, LLC.
Most of these companies were robocalling consumers, then putting the consumer on the phone with a sales agent who would claim to be able to lower consumer’s credit card rate. They never came though with their promises after getting a fee from the consumer.
Please post any comments.
Fight the essential fight, Boiler
