Here is a question that was emailed to me by Steve in Cali:
I viewed my my credit report online. The original creditor (under negative accounts) has “consumer disputing debt”. I have been disputing this debt for years and know they can’t validate.
If you dispute a negative account with credit reporting agency are they the ones that have to add the “disputed” comment on your report or does the creditor have to put it on the credit report?
I sent all of the credit reporting agencies a letter saying I am disputing this alleged account. They claimed the information is accurate.
Steve, it is the credit reporting agencies responsibility to mark your disputed account as in dispute. So the CRA is the one violating the FCRA, not the furnisher of the bogus data. Go after the CRAs.
Let me know if I can help, Boiler
