Medical debt is handled in a similar fashion to credit card debt. The FDCPA, FCRA, and TCPA do not apply to the hospital or medical provider; these laws only apply to the third party debt collector. There are a few exceptions that are rare enough that they don’t warrant a conversation in the post.
The keys to dealing with these debts are to follow the rules that are in my other posts and podcasts related to credit cards. For example, always dispute a collection letter they send to you with in 30 days. This “Golden Rule” still applies.
